ICS's Jeff Rawson Presented New Research At NECANN

We brought our best energy to NECANN Boston this weekend, and it was an incredible experience connecting with so many passionate advocates, researchers, and industry leaders!
A special shout-out to Jeremy Ortiz CLCS CICS Ganjier Product Specialist for the kind invitation to a beautiful gathering at the Prudential Building and to the Good Times Broadcasting Group Inc – “High Ya Doin Show” team for a fantastic dinner. These moments of connection remind me why this work is so important, our community thrives when we come together to learn, grow, and push for meaningful change.
This year, Jeff had the opportunity to present our latest research at the Institute of Cannabis Science (ICS), focusing on a major issue that is often overlooked: the stark contrast between regulated cannabis and hemp products sold in dispensaries versus the unregulated products found in convenience stores, smoke shops, and gas stations. Our study revealed alarming discrepancies, many of these unregulated products claim to contain cannabinoids but, in reality, have little to none! Consumers are being misled, and without proper oversight, these products pose significant risks to public health and safety.
The unregulated market is thriving, and it’s creating confusion and potential harm for consumers who believe they are purchasing tested, reliable products. Meanwhile, regulated cannabis businesses must adhere to strict compliance measures; so why aren’t all products claiming to contain cannabinoids held to the same standards? This lack of regulation and accountability is something we must address as an industry, and ICS is committed to continuing this research to push for greater transparency and consumer protection.
While Jeff’s talk was scheduled early on Saturday morning, the energy and engagement from those who attended reinforced how critical this issue is. This presentation was just the first step, ICS will continue to collect data, advocate for policy changes, and educate both consumers and regulators about what’s really happening in the market.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, offered support, and engaged in these important conversations. We are just getting started, and there’s so much more to come! Stay tuned for more findings, deeper investigations, and ways you can get involved. Let’s build a cannabis industry based on truth, accountability, and consumer safety.
